Factory letter states this rifle was shipped as a .45-70 octagon rifle with pistol grip checkered stock and Lyman front, leaf and tag sights on September 10th, 1896. CONDITION: Barrel and tube retain approximately 90% original blue with brown patina coming through and blending to a homogenous hue. Frame is an all chocolate brown soft patina with blue still on the loading gate and bolt. Beautiful walnut stocks are proud to metal with extra grain and finish, sharp checkering, some crazing to surface and usual handling marks. Sharp, rifled bore and fine action. Beautiful deluxe rifle.
