According to the factory letter, this rifle was shipped on August 11th, 1886 with a repair delivery date of July 18th, 1893. Shipped as a .38 caliber rifle with octagon barrel, half magazine, plain trigger, case colored frame. All of those features are present. Features standard Winchester sporting rear sight, Beeches front sight and rifle butt. CONDITION: The octagon barrel is a smooth mix of plum blue and patina with sharp legends and edges. Left side of frame retains approximately 20-30% color but has mostly nickeled out. Right side of frame retains approximately 10-15% color. 70% nitre blue on loading gate. 60-70% blue on hammer and a touch on lever. Buttplate has turned grey patina. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal with extra finish that is apparent but not listed. Bore exhibits sharp lands and shiny grooves. Obviously used but well cared for 1873.
