A desirable set of Waffen SS Assault Gun Trousers. The first Assault Gun Uniforms were instituted sometime in 1940 and, with the exception of their color, were identical to their Panzer counterparts. This uniform was intended for use by Self-Propelled Anti-Tank Gun Crews, as well as the Assault Gun Crews; aka "Sturmgeschutz". The Waffen SS took the same design of the Heer's uniforms and added their own unique features to them. The main difference between the Heer version of the Assault Gun Trousers and the SS version is on the front pocket flaps of the trousers. The Heer version uses a single button closure, while the SS version uses two buttons for securing the closure of the flap. The trousers are constructed of a greenish colored tricot wool. The tricot wool shows minimal wear with some scattered light marks in the knee areas and a few small moth nips near the crotch area. Nearly all the construction stitching is intact and appears to still be strong. Both the front closure flaps, and the rear pocket flap are without damage. The waist tightening straps are intact and use a silvered steel buckle for adjusting. The silvered buckle has slight surface rust. The original green dyed internal cinch belt is included. The trousers use plastic buttons throughout and all are securely in place. The upper waistband of the interior is lined with a white ribbed cotton lining. The pockets of the trousers are made of the same white ribbed cotton. The crotch area is lined with a bluish-grey rayon. The lower ankle ties are intact. There are faint black ink stamps on the interior waistband. The upper stamp is illegible, while the lower reads "112".
