Lot consists of: (A) Heer M42 Tunic (B) Heer Trousers. (A) The M42 German Tunic is, overall, in very good condition. The base material of the tunic is a blend of mostly wool with some synthetic fibers. The tunic exhibits heavy wear with repairs and patches on the high wear areas of the tunic, such as the neck area, the back, and the arms. There are also some light moth nips scattered throughout. The breast eagle is an original and correct M40 pattern for this tunic, but has been reapplied, through the lining, by hand stitching. Both of the collar tabs have been removed and the buttons for the slip-on shoulder boards are missing. The fact that the eagle of this tunic has been removed at some point as well, points to the fact that this tunic was most likely worn by a soldier who had surrendered and was ordered to remove his insignia, as was always the case. The tunic does come with a set of Heer EM Infantry piped shoulder boards which are held on only by the shoulder strap loops on the tunic. The six original main closure buttons, and four pocket buttons, have been resewn to the tunic at least once during the time of its wear. An original set of awards loops remain above the upper right pocket. The interior of the tunic is partially lined with a ribbed cotton. The lining is in very good condition and shows a few light moth nips, scattered cob webs, and some repairs in the armpit areas. (B) The Heer Army Trousers are, overall, in very good condition. The base material is a blend of mostly wool and some synthetic materials. There are signs of heavy use with repairs and patches throughout. All of the original zinc dish buttons are present but show some oxidization from moisture. Both waist adjustment straps are intact and use steel buckles, that have light rust. All four exterior belt loop straps are intact and the lower ankle drawstrings are in place. The interior of the trousers are partially lined with a white ribbed cotton which shows typical daily wear. The inside waistband is black ink stamped with the trousers size dimensions.
