A German Kreigsmarine Officer's Visor Cap in overall, near mint condition. The upper body of the cap is made of a dark blue, fine doeskin wool and the band is wrapped with a near mint woven black wool that has a few areas of light marks. The visor is piped with a cord that is the same color as the dark blue doeskin upper body, and shows no damage. The visor insignia is gold cello embroidery on a blue backing. Each piece is skillfully hand sewn to the visor. Approximately 40% of the cockades surface area is stained or darkened. The leather chinstrap is in excellent condition and shows some wear. There is a small slice on the bottom of the chinstrap, and some areas where the leather finish has worn slightly near the buttons. The visor's bill is wrapped with a textured black fabric, and embroidered on the edges with a silver bullion for Company Grade Officers. The interior of the cap is lined with a cream colored rayon lining and is in excellent condition. The lining has discoloration and staining from use. The original sweat shield is no longer present. The pliable leather sweat band, with the exception of one tear, is almost in near mint condition.
