Contracted by Colt to produce pistols during the first World War, Remington produced these arms only from 1918 to 1919 with only a total of 21,677 shipped to the Ordnance Department. All correct parts to include Type II rear sight with beveled edges, Type IV two tone tempered magazine with pinned base (no stamp on bottom), Type I long smooth trigger, Type II checkered wide spur hammer, flat mainspring housing with loop, checkered slide stop and safety, Remington diamond truncated checkered walnut stocks as seen on page 140. Left side of frame has the stamped letters "EEC" for Edmund E. Chapman,"HP" sans serifs in line with bore on barrel. Left side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with eagle head "E28" stamp above magazine release. Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY CALIBER 45". Right side of slide has the Remington UMC circle with Colt's patent date and "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON ARMS UMC CO INC BRIDGEPORT CONN". CONDITION: The gun is basically grey patina with some light freckling. Magazine catch has all of its blue finish, so it may have been replaced with proper type. All legends are razor sharp. Grips are in near mint condition. Fine bore and action.
