Offered is an extremely early two tone high polish Colt Model 1911 with the fire blue small parts. Features early slide stamp "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE" on right side, left side has last patent date of February 14th, 1911, standing pony at rear; frame has "GOVERNMENT MODEL" stamp on right. Barrel is not marked. Type I rounded rear sight and small front sight, diamond checkered truncated walnut grips, flat mainspring housing with loop, fire blue checkered slide stop and safety, fire blued short checkered wide spur hammer, fire blued long smooth trigger, blue barrel, early tempered keyhole magazine with lanyard loop. CONDITION: Front strap retains approximately 75% blue starting to thin and freckle. Backstrap is a patina. Grip safety 75% blue. Balance of frame retains approximately 85-90% high polish blue with some normal scratching near takedown. Slide retains approximately 85% high polish blue with usual light handling scuff. Legends are razor sharp. 80% or better nitre blue on all small parts. Near mint grips. Bore exhibits strong rifling with light frosting. An extremely fine condition, early high polish Government Model 1911.
