Approximately 13,800 manufactured between 1935 and 1945, the majority of which were shipped to the US military. This example features a finely checkered front grip strap, checkered short trigger, finely checkered grip safety, checkered backstrap, short checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, checkered walnut grips, blued finish, target adjustable rear sight, post front sight. Right side of slide stamped "COLT SERVICE MODEL ACE 22 LONG RIFLE". The blued magazine is stamped with the same information as the right side of slide. Barrel is blued, chamber is polished bright and jeweled. CONDITION: Frame retains virtually all of the blue finish applied at the time of custom checkering. Slide retains 95% blue with some high edge wear and minor age freckling. Bore is near mint. Whoever did the custom checkering on the metal and finish did a superb job and this should make an extremely accurate pre-war custom .22 Target pistol, as all work performed was master quality.
