29" OU barrels are entirely milled from one block of steel including integral ventilated rib, side ribs, loop, and Boss style fillets for forend. Left side of top barrel is marked "JOHN WILKES, COS CO". Bottom of breech section is stamped with serial number, and W0012 (15 were produced in this series). No proofs or other markings are present. Coin finished low profile OU action features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved), and double triggers. Water table is engraved "Special Series" and with serial number. Specially designed coil spring sidelocks remove by pushing out headless pin through small access hole in left lockplate exposing a torex screw head in right lock. Action is engraved with well cut interwoven strap work in a field of large shaded scroll. This unusual and pleasing design is engraved by Gary Griffiths, of Preston Idaho, noted American engraver, whose signature is on trigger plate. Sides of action are engraved "John Wilkes"which also appears on bottom over "London". Single beaded small bow trigger guard is scroll engraved to match. Nicely marbled and crotch figured flesh-toned European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 7/8" over black Old English pad. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Fluted drop points were added and darkened with magic marker. Matching field one piece forend has Anson type release. Gun comes in green painted aluminum case with John Wilkes metal label riveted to top. Foam interior contains a key. CONDITION: Excellent, close to new, appears unfired, with only a very few light handling marks in all finishes. Mechanically fine. These guns retailed at over $30,000.00. MGM 262
