51,389 of these rifles were made between 1868 and 1872. The are distinguished from the Allin Conversion by the distinctive rear sight. Lock is dated 1863 and the breech block is dated 1869. CONDITION: Lock is in crisp condition with excellent marking. Barrel is in good condition with some very minor surface corrosion, easily removed. Front sight has been modified with the addition of a copper blade. Ramrod is a replacement. The walnut full stock shows considerable wear and has a tight crack extending 2" forward of the buttplate. Rifle has been personalized by the addition of a copper heart with the initials "B.K." driven into the comb. Action is excellent. Bore is good and will clean even better. A classic Indian War period US military rifle.
