Lot consists of: Gun (A) standard No. 4 Mk I 1944 dated British Enfield service rifle. Millions of these saw service in all the theaters of war between 1939 and 1945. This one is all standard, unusual in that the wood is very good to excellent and matching in color, indicating that it has not been replaced. Has unit marks stamped in white paint on the stock which has the usual dings for any rifle that saw service. CONDITION: Looks to be original as assembled. Has all the typical British proofing marks but no import marks. Very good bore and action. A nice example. Gun (B) is a Remington US Model 1917. Barrel is dated 9-18, stamped "REMINGTON" with the Ordnance bomb. Stock is not marked. No visible cartouches on the wood. The bolt release is marked "E" for Eddystone. Rear sight blade is Remington. Nickel steel bolt is marked "W" for Winchester. All this indicates that this is a typical World War I rifle that was rebuilt for World War II. These rifles were used by the U.S. in both wars. CONDITION: All metal is grey patina. Very good bore and action. Wood is very good and dark; obviously replaced with usual war dings. Good example of a rifle that was used in two world wars. Comes with a 1917 Remington U.S. Bayonet with wood handle in excellent shape but no scabbard.
