Very fine second model 1873 Winchester lever Action rifle chambered for the iconic 44-40 Winchester cartridge. 24 Inch full octagon barrel with sporting blade front sight and knurled elevator adjustable rear sight. Traditional two line Winchester address on top barrel flat and chamber top marked 44 W.C.F.. Blue and case color finishes with nicely figured two piece American walnut stocks with crescent butt plate. This is the most popular configuration of the "Gun that WON The West". CONDITION. Very fine and original in every respect. The barrel and magazine retain over 75% of their original factory blue finish with balance thinning a natural antique patina. The Receiver has retained nearly 90% of its original bright blue finish with very slight edge wear on side plates and typical thinning on right side from carry / use. The two piece American walnut stocks are equally fine and have most all of the factory varnish with very slight staining at wrist and thinning of finish at forearm. The hammer and lever have over 80% of the vivid case colors remaining with balance turning a natural patina. The bore is superb with sharp rifling and is very bright , showing very little actual use. The action is crisp and functions properly. Rifle is complete with its original four piece steel cleaning rod in butt. TDW
