Franklin led a historical career both during and after the Civil War, He was an agent for the Confederate Government importing much needed supplies through the Blockade , he was originally from Mississippi and a direct descendant of the famous American Patriot Benjamin Franklin. He entered the war in command of the 33rd Mississippi and excelled through the ranks becoming a Lt. Colonel. After the war he went West as so many Confederate veterans did to build a new life, and became a Sheriff in West Texas in 1920 he attended Hoods Texas Brigade Confederate Veterans Reunion this was to be his last connection with the war. CONDITION. Good to fair, The carbine is very lightly frosted overall with a heavy patina from exposure to the elements. The two piece stocks are worn but solid and full sized. The bore is dark, action is functional. TDW
