Hallmarked at rear tang of knucklebow with date letter for London, 1750. This attractive silver hilted small sword features a straight colichemarde blade. Guard decorated with pierced scrollwork as well as arms motifs and heraldic designs. Finger rings and much of knucklebow features gadrooning and in center of knucklebow are chased cannons on both sides. The pierced pommel features instruments on both sides. The grip is wrapped with several strands of plain and braided silver wire. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with scattered freckling and wear overall and a few nicks to bottom edge. Hilt has some areas of dark patination and all silverwork shows very little wear. Strands of wire on grip are slightly loose. An attractive, far better than average English small sword.
