Lot contains: (A) Slightly curved steel blade, partially blued at top 6" of both sides. Deeply engraved with arms motifs and gilt wash with panels of decoration at the ricasso on each side. Silver guard with sections of gadrooning in center and quillons marked with small French hallmarks on both sides. Tapered grip of fluted ebony with silver ferrule at front and silver pommel cap. Complete with brown leather scabbard with silver mounts and hanger. CONDITION: Good to very good. Blade has some chipping to edge and tip has been rounded. Some scattered dark spots of corrosion. Retains approximately 80% of blued and gilt finishes. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain an unpolished patina with some scattered marks from use, drag with one large dent on right side. Leather scabbard with some scattered scuffing and staining, otherwise excellent. (B) Unusual Eastern sword with elephant head pommel. Slightly curved steel blade with partial fuller on each side. Small cast brass guard is silver plated. Detailed elephant's head pommel features an inset purple stone on the forehead and is silver plated. Grip probably a rhino horn and wrapped with twisted silver wire. CONDITION: Good. Blade has been cleaned and shows some edge wear and scattered dark spots. Hilt retains about 90% of silver plating with some losses on pommel to high edges. Grips shows some minor chipping around front ferrule on left side. A nice lot of decorative swords.
