19th century. This Highland dirk is much finer than normally encountered. The blade is superbly frost etched with the monarch's crown and cipher "VR" for Victoria. Blade is further etched with numerous battle honors of the 74th including Assaye, Seringapatam, and many others like Salamanka. Blade is etched with an elephant and makers name "Hamburger Rogers & Co. 30 King Street Covent Garden". The mounts are finely cast and chased in relief and gilt. The by knife and fork en suite with carved ebony grips in rope design and golden carngorm stones. The whole is preserved in pristine condition throughout with brilliant etched blade and mounts retaining nearly all their original bright fire gilding. The carngorm on the by knife with one chip. This wonderful Scottish dirk is cased in a blue velvet lines Morocco leather case with gilt enamel badge. CONDITION: Excellent. A superb Victorian regimental dirk.
