All elements appear to be of the period and in good condition. The Burgonet helmet of two pieces of typical Nuremberg style embossed brim and elaborate cast brass rivets, single neck lame and two original ear flaps. Skull shows good delamination. Heavy breast plate of peascod form with movable gussets decorated with rope boarders, en suite with breastplate. Breastplate is struck at the top with Nuremberg stamp. The back plate with a Nuremberg Fleur De Lis, roped on sides and top. The Almain collar of three pieces, the front deeply struck with armorer's mark. The short pauldrons of 5 lames, not roped. The long tassets of 11 lames, en suite with the pauldrons and collar. CONDITION: Good for an armor of this period. The black paint has been renewed and there has been some re-leathering on tassets and other parts. A very attractive black and white suite, comprehensive late 16th and early 17th century with a very fine Nuremberg breastplate.
