This sword has a wonderful provenance, as it was previously in the Phillip Medicus Collection, the personal collection of Norm Flayderman, and was owned by Peter Tillou and William Dykes. For a similar example, see page 171 plate 328.S of "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. The sword features a slightly curved unfullered American-made steel blade. The brass hilt has a four slot guard with a triangular piercing at the front of the knucklebow. Back of knucklebow attached to an integral ring or ferrule just in front of the molded globe-shaped pommel. The spiraling cherry grip is wrapped with a single strand of copper wire. The sword is accompanied by a letter from William Dykes Antiques regarding the provenance. CONDITION: Very good, as found condition. Dark patina overall and completely uncleaned. Minor bend to left branch of guard, near knucklebow, tip of blade slightly bent and rounded. A fantastic Revolutionary War American saber in untouched condition!
