Lot contains: (A) A wakizashi with 17-1/2" blade and straight temper, signed and dated but details obscured by rust Sukesada? Blade has ken horimono and silver foil habaki. Tang is uncut. Iron tsuba with copper highlights. The handle with fine shakudo nanako fuchi kashira with gold leaves and good soft metal menuki. CONDITION: (A) In mostly full polish. Black lacquer scabbard in good condition missing one piece under kozuka slot. Wrap is excellent and same is fine quality. (B) An Imperial Japanese Army Officer’s katana in excellent nearly pristine condition. The 27-9/16" blade of one piece oil temper is in nearly full original polish. The mounts are virtually as new from World War II with the exception of one dent on the right side near the hanger. A superior example. CONDITION: Excellent, excepting one very insignificant chip at tip. The scabbard retains all original brown lacquer paint with some surface scratches. The mounts have most of their original gilding.
