Measures 26-3/8" high x 14-3/4" wide. Complete with top and bottom metal bands. Complete pad starting in January. This brightly colored calendar features a moose hunter in a canoe eyeing his prey, wielding the new Winchester Model 54 bolt action rifle. The artist was R. Farrington Elwell (1874-1962). In addition to painter and illustrator, Elwell managed Buffalo Bill's Wyoming ranch from 1896 to 1921. The image is bright with no fading and only a couple minor horizontal creases near the top left. No staining. Blacklight shows no signs of any repairs or inpainting. Original staples on pad. Robert Farrington Elwell became well known as a western illustrator, painter and sculptor although he was professionally trained as an engineer. Elwell met William F. Cody in the late 1880's after a Wild West performance. Cody invited Elwell to visit his ranches near Cody, Wyoming, to rest, relax, and work on his art. This led to his becoming a frequent and welcome guest at Cody’s ranch and eventually working for Cody as an engineer, ranch manager, and as an artist for some of Cody’s Wild West publicity. Elwell managed successful careers working as both engineer and artist during his life.
