One of the harder to find models of the 1899 is the early perch belly half octagon barrel. The barrel address ends in October 3rd, 1899, which is generally considered to be pre-1911; so the barrel was probably an older inventory stock. Left side rear of the barrel is stamped "SAVAGE HIGH PRESSURE STEEL MODEL 1899". Rear sight is a Marbles while the front sight is a sheard style. Rifle has a Marbles tang peep sight added. Perch belly stock has a rifle butt. Buttplate is numbered to the gun while the forend and buttstock appear to have matching numbers that do number to the frame. Lever has traces of nice color. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 85-90% original factory blue mixing with patina. Frame retains approximately 20-30% factory high polish blue mixing with patina. Stocks are excellent. Strong rifling with lightly frosted grooves.
