Dated 1881. Good unaltered 1873 Springfield .45-70 rifle. The classic rifle used by the US Army during the Indian Wars. CONDITION: Lockplate with fading original blue and no pitting but good markings. The breech block marked "US 1873". Barrel has 1873 adjustable rear sight and smooth brown patina throughout. The barrel bands have smooth patina, as does trigger guard. Buttplate smooth with only very minor pitting. Walnut full stock is very good, with visible "P" at wrist and 1881 dated cartouche on left side. Some dents and scratches throughout. Action is very crisp with all three clicks present. Ramrod is original. Bore is excellent. A more than acceptable example of this most important U.S. Military long arm.
