This pistol has engraved and stepped lock plate signed "Joseph Lamotte Laine" with swan neck cock and cock screw finely engraved with flowers. The barrels with gold damasceneing of flowers and maker's name also in gold "J. Lemotte Laine". Silver foresights, steel trigger guard and vacant silver thumb piece with brown grotesque mask and lions. The Grenoble walnut full stocks and spurred iron buttcap. Right lock is in crisp condition, left lock has a slightly worn hammer. All small parts on both hammers are original. Frizzens are engraved and original, barrel with some minor erosion, no serious pitting. Most of the gold intact. Stock with one cut to left side next to ram rod pipe. Split and glued ramrod pipe will fall off when ramrod is removed, otherwise stock is good. Steel ramrod is not original. A good double barreled flint by one of France's more famous provincial makers.
