Dovetailed barrels are 28" long and fitted with narrow, swamped game rib engraved "F. Beesley. 2. St James's Street. London. SW." Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 - 1/2" chambers. Serial number is engraved on bottom of left barrel. Small sized case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety and double triggers. Action is engraved with 70% coverage well cut scroll with line and scroll borders. "F. Beesley" is on scroll terminated riband on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Very finely fiddle figured and well streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 7/16" over ribbed wood butt. Flat top point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip, and a vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Gun is housed in original brown leather trimmed case which is lined in green cloth and has large paper Beesley label in lid. Loading data, pellet counts and date "1930" are inked in. Case contains a Beesley marked glass oil bottle with pewter top, pair of snap caps, cleaning rod, Turks head and jag, 20 bore German silver broken case remover, pewter vaseline jar, pull through cleaning kit, and the key. CONDITION: Very fine, mostly original. Barrels retain 85% original blue with light scratches and hand wear on sides. Action retains 70 - 80% original case hardening color. Top lever and floorplate are lightly silvered. Trigger guard retains about 30% of its original blue on bow, silvered at grip. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original finish with some oil added as maintenance, with numerous scratches and light bumps from normal field use. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case is fine, with marks and rubs on exterior. Original straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is fine. Label is considerably foxed. Accessories are fine. A very fine lightweight wand from this very highly regarded maker. MGM 132
