One of the estimated 150 .410 superlights sold in all grades in the early '70's, this very rare "Midas" grade has 26 - 5/16" barrels marked for modified and full. They are fitted with slightly raised, matted, ventilated rib and have all correct Browning addresses and marks and "MADE IN BELGIUM" on top barrel. Breech ends and ejector bosses are engraved with well cut open scroll. Blued action with gold plated single selective trigger is engraved in "Midas" style with near full coverage nicely cut large shaded open scroll. This fine scroll surrounds game scenes within gold inlaid borders in a now classic style originated by Louis Vrancken. Three relief gold inlaid pheasant flush from woodlands into open meadow on left side of action, while a trio of ducks take wing from a marsh on right. A gold inlaid quail flies across bottom of action. Trigger guard with matching scroll has a vacant shield on bow. Signatures of "J. M. Florent" who was responsible for the scroll is at bottom rear of left side of action, and "M. Bodson" who did the gold inlay and game scenes, is at bottom right of pheasant scene. Straight grip superlight stock of superb feather crotch grained American walnut measures 14 - 1/4" over composition Browning buttplate. Well cut modified point pattern checkering wraps around both top and bottom of grip. Schnabeled superlight forend is of marbled walnut. Gun comes in its original black and gold cardboard box with correct end label for this gun, with small taped on tag inscribed "MIDAS" "SUPERLIGHT". CONDITION: Excellent, essentially "as new", with only a few light handling and assembly marks in all original factory surfaces. Checkering still very light in color. Mechanically excellent. Box has some rubs and bumps on corners with tape marks and tape repairs to ends of top. Label is foxed, partially obliterated at lower right. Serial number is clear. A top notch investment quality Browning. MGM 119.
