Rifle features: 31-3/4" heavy octagon barrel, .40 bore, German silver knife blade front sight, sporting rear, lollipop tang, half walnut stock, checkered at wrist, finish added, single trigger, brass trigger guard and buttplate, decorative silver inlay on left side of stock, German nickel forend cap, oak rod, engraved sideplate and hammer that is stamped "A.T. Russel," an unlocated, but listed, gunsmith. Same decoration of right side of stock as left. J. H. Recto / Syracus / NY 349 is stamped on barrel, indicating that this gun was built by J.H. Rector, a famed gunsmith out of Syracuse, New York. Stock is in excellent condition, but has been refinished. Slightly shy to metal, checkering worn. Barrel has light brown contemporary finish that is quite attractive. Has an excellent and strong rifle bore. Rifle weighs 11.9 pounds.
