New York" on top with caliber engraved on left side. 1903 Springfield action with stippled receiver ring and damascened bolt extractor and runway is fitted with Lyman 48 receiver sight and G&H scope side mount with slide and rings. Standard trigger and bottom metal retained, with trigger guard bow slightly slimmed and shaped. Dense European walnut stock with attractive streaking and light fiddle figure measures 14" over Silver type pad. Carbine is fitted with sling swivels. Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, mostly original (barrel shortened?). Metal parts retain nearly all of what appears to be original blue with some light staining and some minor marks. Bottom metal possibly re-blued. Damascening remains bright and clean. Stock retains nearly all of its original hand rubbed oil finish with evidence of light wear and some handling marks, and some refinishing at rear of butt with addition of newer pad. There is an area of repair behind top tang where a piece of wood has chipped out and been re-glued. Checkering cleaned in this area, otherwise checkering is lightly worn. Bore appears to be very fine, but is quite dirty. Consignor states that only 73 G&H custom rifles were produced in 1936. MGM 90
