Manufactured 1858 to 1864 with approximately 1,400 made. These were a very interesting gun; top strap swivels open to allow the barrels to tip down for loading. On the right side there is a selector to pick the barrel you wish to fire. Left side has a slide out 2" knife blade that rides inside rails on left of barrels. Frame is made of brass. Nickel plated with Marsden patent and address on left side. Spur trigger, visible hammer and saw handle rosewood grips. Light border engraving. CONDITION: Barrels are basically brown-grey patina. Frame has approximately 40% original plating. Grips are excellent. Hammer cocks and works but has the "umph" and obviously needs a new spring. Knife blade has been polished. Very unusual mid-century gambler's deringer.
