John Martz is well known as one of the finest builders of custom Lugers. The Baby Luger is one of his trademark items. This "in-the-white" example has a 2" barrel fitted with a drift adjustable front sight. Chamber marked 1937 with an S/42 Mauser coded toggle. The full serial number 4871 appears on the forward frame and left side of the receiver with the matching two digits on all of the usual parts except the trigger which is number 26, the reworked grips, and the converted Haenel Schmeisser seven round magazine whose plug is numbered 5068. Upon disassembly the "JVM 30" is on the left side of the frame where covered by the sideplate. Fitted with shortened grips having a barely perceptible seam. CONDITION: Excellent as reworked by John Martz. In the white metal minimal staining and flecks of oxidation. Small parts with at least 80% straw. Magazine with scattered small blemishes along forward leading edge, body bright, plug nicely secured. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A classic John Martz Baby Luger in 9mm! Provenance from the John Siroonian collection.
