Both with tapered round barrels, muzzles engraved with stiff leaf panel. Bottoms of breeches fitted with lug for barrel removal and stamped with London gunmaker's view and proof marks. Rounded scroll and border-engraved scalloped boxlock actions marked "FORSYTH & Co." on left sides and "London" on opposite sides. Features folding triggers and sliding thumb safeties and dolphin form hammers. Bag -shaped walnut grips profusely inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and engraved leaves and blossoms. Small engraved silver oval-shaped wrist escutcheons with "J.A." monograms, small silver buttcaps engraved with florals. Together with their original brown velour-lined mahogany case, possibly a retailer's case, from the period. Complete with key. CONDITION: Fine. Steel components retain a mostly bright surface with crisp markings and decoration. Actions are crisp, one pistol with a chip missing from nipple shield. Grips very good and all inlays are present. Case lid with a couple minor losses to edge, lining with some minor wear and staining. A very nice pair of cased English muff pistols by a well-known maker.
