Circa 1869-70 Cyrus Field Medal, Julian PE-10. Bronze, 104 mm, 494 gm, produced at the U.S. Mint, 125 specimens are recorded as being struck in bronze. Engraved by William Barber. Awarded by Congress to Cyrus Field of New York "for his foresight, faith, and persistency in establishing telegraphic communication, by means of the Atlantic telegraph, connecting the old and new worlds." CONDITION: Attractive reddish-brown patination on both sides. Fine condition showing no wear. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
