Measuring 5-1/4" overall with textured brass construction binocular bodies. Optics are clear, functioning adjustments. Left hand side ocular end well marked with impressed makers name, "Negretti Zambra Opticians London". Right hand side ocular end marked " Holborne Viaduct 39 Cornhill & 122 Regent Street". Mounted on the sun shields at the objectives lenses are two German silver plaques, engraved on the first " Presented By The/ Government of Canada/ To Mr William Wilkinson/ Carpenter of the Ship Saranac/ Of Philadelphia United States Of America." The second is engraved "In Acknowledgment of his/ exertions at the rescue of the/ Crew of the Ship Annie M. Cann/ of/ Yarmouth Nova Scotia/ on 3rd March 1872". CONDITION: Excellent showing very little wear. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
