Restored Allgemeine SS Visor in, overall, excellent condition. The visors top is made of a near mint, black doeskin wool fabric. There are a few modern glue spots on the peak of the black fabric near the piping. The visor's outer band is made of a black velvet which is near mint, but shows some evidence near the skull insignia of tampering and a previous skull. The white piping on the visor is made of a wool wrapped cording which shows some moderate yellowing from age and a few small moth nips. The silver officer's chin cord has wear to the high points and one of the cords has become separated from the slide on the visor's right side. It is not known if the chin cord is original to this visor. The bill of the visor is in near mint condition, however it is not certain if this is the original bill to the visor. The metal skull and eagle insignia attached to the visor are reproductions. The interior of the visor is lined with a grey-brown rayon lining which has lost its sweat shield. The brown leather sweat band is in excellent condition, but is most likely not original to the cap. There is a plastic stiffener that has been added between the frame of the cap and the sweatband. The sweatband was then glued to the stiffener. Evidence of prior stitching can be seen when the sweat band is lifted, but no threads are in place. The sweatband is marked with a manufacturer's name in black ink.
