Full silver plated barrel, guide ring, magazine tube, breech block, lever, trigger, and forearm cap. Receiver with typical Ulrich factory ten engraving pattern with an elk in a standing position on the left side with foliate scrollwork on the right side. Base of the frame is engraved as is forearm cap. Fancy triple X checkered walnut stocks with hard rubber shotgun buttplate and Winchester butt cap. "20939" assembly marked on lower tang. Also on upper channel of stock with same number. "H" style checkering on stock as well as forearm. Rifle not proof marked on barrel or receiver. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Records Office research sheet which confirms all of the special order features with a ship date of April 29th, 1905, and a order for Repair and Return on November 1st, 1910. Factory letter also indicates a Lyman jack front sight with an ivory bead. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains 95% silver. 95% on magazine tube that has speckled in a small area. Forearms cap retains 95% of the silver. Receiver left side retains 96-97% silver with razor sharp legends. Right side retains 98% silver. Breech bolt has some speckling that has raised the silver from the breech bolt with no more than 40% silver remaining. Hammer silver plated with 60% remaining. Lever 70-80% silver remaining. Upper tang 60% remaining with the balance turning a patina. Lower tang is silver with 96-98% remaining. Silver was polished recently and is just starting to turn black again. Given a years time, it will tarnish back to its black appearance if one desires or can be kept shiny. Stock with light impressions with no gouges or wood missing around upper or lower tang. Right side of stock has some minor surface scratches with no missing wood. No loss of wood. Stocks have piano varnish finish. Bore has some minor black powder abrasions. Hammer will not stay cocked. A really lovely factory engraved 1892 that will be enhanced by careful research. Engraved factory smoothbore rifles are extreme rarities.
