Manufactured in 1896 and chambered for the 40-72 Winchester Cartridge. 26 inch tapered octagon barrel with sporting blade front sight with elevator adjustable rear sight. Early Flat side variation with two piece American walnut stocks with crescent butt plate and ebony inset Schnabel forearm. Blue and case color finishes. Equipped with period sling eyes in butt and on barrel. CONDITION. Good with outstanding bright shiny bore with sharp rifling. The barrel and receiver retain over 80% factory applied blue finish with losses at muzzle, edges of barrel flats and edge wear on receiver. The Two piece walnut stocks have been very lightly sanded and refinished but are full sized and look very good. The sling eyes are not a factory installation but appear to be period. The action is crisp and mechanics function properly. TDW
