Chambered for the 45-70 Gov't cartridge and manufactured in 1896. This Case colored Winchester 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine has a very pleasant honest look and appeal. Equipped with a 22 Inch round barrel with ladder adjustable carbine sight. Two piece American walnut stocks with carbine buttplate. The 1886 was considered to be one of the best guns ever developed by Winchester and was a tremendous financial success for the company. CONDITION. Very Good overall with over 60% blue finish remaining with balance turning plumb. Most finish loss is located on the top of the barrel and side of magazine from use. All markings are crisp and legible. The case colored receiver has turned silver with areas of vivid case colors in the more protected areas. The hammer and lever retain traces of case colors in the protected areas, The bore while being slightly pitted with darkness in the grooves has strong rifling and is quite shootable. The two piece American walnut stocks have a number of small scratches with one gouge on the right side of the butt. An additional coating of finish has been added at some much earlier time. All screws are good with only slight indication of having been removed for maintenance and cleaning. Mechanics are in proper functioning order and action is crisp.TDW
