Third Model 1873 rifle manufactured in 1890 with 24 inch Octagon barrel, full magazine and crescent butt with trap for cleaning rod. Chambered for the 38-40 Winchester cartridge and mounted with blade front sight and elevator adjustable rear sight. Blue finish overall with case colored hammer and lever. CONDITION. Very good to fine. Bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling. Action is crisp and functions properly. Over 90% factory blue finish remains on barrel and magazine with numerous small scratches and a small amount of edge wear. Receiver retains over 60% strong factory blue finish with losses at balance point and at forward areas of receiver from carry. The left side of the receiver has an area with evidence of an attempt to remove some corrosion at some earlier time. Crescent butt has turned patina overall. Two piece American walnut stocks are very good with generous amounts of factory varnish remaining. Stocks are solid and full size.TDW
