Seven (7) miscellaneous receipts and documents related to the supply and issue of various Continental Army Quartermaster or Commissary Departments along the Hudson Valley in New York during the Revolutionary War:
1) Frederick Tracy's receipt for 8 barrels of flower received Continental Store per Isaac Howe, dated White Plains, 22 October 1776, ADS, 1 page, docketed on recto, octavo, fine.
2) A. Stewart authorizes Storekeeper Fisher "to let Mr. Crocker load with whatever Quantity of Boards he can take to this Place", dated Fishkill, 20 January 1779, ADS, 1 page, docketed, octavo, fine.
3) Justice of Peace Philip Commyne's receipt for 14 pounds and 8 shillings from John Van Woert for two day's service in six cases involving the seizure of flour, meal and wheat "for the use of the Army", dated 9 February 1779, ADS, 1 page, docketed, quarto, fine.
4) Teamster Joseph Sterrett's receipt to Commissary John Post for 63 "Hides Waighing when green" 3,869 pounds for delivery to John Erskine, Keeper of the Wadsworth & Co. Magazine at Newburgh, dated "Camp N. York line", 27 November 1780, ADS, 1 page, docketed, quarto, fine.
5) James Savage's receipt to Commissary Post of the New York Line for 4561 pounds of flour, 43 pounds of beef and 4 gills of salt three thousand eight hundred & sixty received at Verplank's Point between 16-27 October 1782, ADS, 1 page, docketed, octavo, light toning and soiling, with minor separation at edges of fold.
6) Commissary John Post's receipt for 183 1/2 gallons West India rum and 105 gallons of New England rum in 2 hogsheads, plus 2 bushels of potatoes from Keeper John Erskine, dated "New York line [at New Windsor Cantonment], 12 November 1782, ADS, 1 page, docketed, octavo, with heavily toned edges, otherwise VG.
7) Teamster Nathan Cock's 26 November 1782 receipt for 10 barrels of flour issued by John Erskine for delivery to Commissary Post at the New York Brigade, also bearing Post's receipt for the same, ADS, 1 page, docketed, octavo, fine. From the Walter O'Connor collection.
