"Statement of Ordnance & Ordnance Stores Rec[eive]d at Fredericksburg by Brig Genl Daniel Ruggles", unsigned document, 2 pp., dated 11 May 1861 and docketed "Mr. A. H. Mason's Account of Ordnance &c" on recto. Even before his resignation from the US Army had been accepted , Daniel Ruggles had been appointed a brigadier general in the "Virginia Forces" and he was ordered on May 3, 1861 by Major General Robert E. Lee to muster the volunteer companies of Fredericksburg and Prince George, Lancaster and Northumberland counties into state service. This list of ordnance includes 1000 flintlock muskets with bayonets, various cannon and other ordnance stores received for- or issued to- Virginia troops between April 26th and May 11th.
