This fine example features a slightly curved single edged steel blade with partial fuller on each side. The left side of the ricasso is stamped "U.S.N./ D.R./ 1862". The right side is stamped with Ames manufacturing marks. Brass hilt features a riveted basket on the right side of sheet brass and a black lacquered grip. The sword is complete with its original black leather scabbard with brass rivets on left side and brass frog stud. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Blade retains original polish and bright surface with some minor freckling. Markings are excellent. Hilt retains an unpolished patina and grip retains most of original lacquer. Scabbard is excellent with some minor crazing to surface. From the Jim Linton Collection
