Dated 1847 on the lock. Bayonet stud on the bottom of the barrel at muzzle. Sling swivel in the rear of the stock. Iron mounted. Smoothbore. A total of 3,359 of these were manufactured at Springfield Armory between 1848 and 1859. Reproduction nipple. Ramrod is cut down to fit. CONDITION: This gun has been overly cleaned with areas of light to moderate pitting. Hammer shows significant pitting on the underside of the neck with matching wood burnout underneath on stock. Barrel markings have been restored, however a date was not added. Stock has been sanded and refinished with a significant gap in the wood around the lock. Stock has some areas of plastic wood and real wood restoration. Lock is in good working order. Bore is pitted.
