The 3" Magnum "Duck" model was offered between 1940 and 1952, good examples are hard to find. This gun has 30" barrels marked with Winchester model information on side of left barrel and "12 GAUGE 2 3/4 & 3 IN". Barrel flats are stamped with serial number, Winchester proofs, and "3". Barrels are marked for full and full. Standard blued action with automatic safety and blued single selective trigger is stamped "DUCK" on trigger plate. Dense, lightly stump figured American walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 13 - 5/8" over red Winchester pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Braced beavertail forend matches well but is not numbered on wood. CONDITION: Excellent, as found. Barrels retain approximately 90% original blue, thinned somewhat at breech end and toward muzzles with high edge wear. There is a considerable amount of firing chatter on bottom from contact with beavertail forend, which if not original, has been on this gun for a very long time. Action is silvered on top tang and on sharp edges, thinning around bottom. Trigger plate shows considerable flaking, which is not unusual. Trigger guard is silvered on edges of bow and considerably silvered at grip. Buttstock retains over 95% original varnish with numerous light marks and scratches. It appears some varnish has lifted on side panels with some oil added. Finish of forend shows more hand wear. Checkering lightly worn. Forend latch most likely re-blued (cold blue?). Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. MGM 234
