Full length one piece walnut stock inspected "SWP" 1888 on left side. Model 1884 Buffington slide adjustable rear sight with pedestal mounted military blade front sight/bayonet lug. Two steel barrel retaining bands with swivel and stacking swivel mounted on forward band and two piece trigger guard. lock is marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" with Eagle and has 3 position tumbler. Chambered for the 45-70 Gov't cartridge. Comes with U.S. Marked 1873 Trapdoor Socket bayonet and undated dark russet brown McKeever cartridge box with 20 rounds of UMC 45 GOV'T ammunition. CONDITION Excellent as completely refinished. The barrel, receiver and breech block are all a contemporary rust blue with slight finish losses on barrel at midpoint. The walnut stock is very good with slight traces of sanding but all markings are legible and corners sharp. The Socket bayonet has been refinished with out any polishing, marking are crisp. The Cartridge box is very fine with good stitching and supple leather with exception of closure tabe being slightly alligatored. Bore is spotlessly bright with razor sharp rifling.
