Fine Damascus barrels are marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on game rib with dolls head extension. Case hardened top lever action is fitted with bar locks having deeply chamfered serpentine rebounding hammers. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll within line borders. Lockplates have matching scroll surrounding vignettes of pointer on left and pair of snipe (?) on right. Both locks are engraved "COLT". Top lever and trigger plate are blued, as is trigger guard which has scene of flying duck on bow and serial number on tang. Nicely figured, dense American walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over Rampant Colt embossed checkered hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering wraps over top of grip. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter forend with ebony inlet schnabeled tip has modified Deeley release. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrels retain 60-70% original Damascus finish. Action and locks retain approximately 40% original light case color. Top lever and trigger plate retain over 60% of their blue. Trigger guard with about 10% blue, is considerably silvered at grip. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original finish with some added oil, with numerous scratches and marks. Checkering is somewhat worn and dirty. Bores are very fine with some frosting and striations. Action is tight. Locks are excellent. MGM28.
