The fine Damascus blade of characteristic form is 30" long and 1" wide. The cross guard is also of Wootz steel. Pommel and grips appear to be replaced. The steel mounted scabbard with two carrying rings and plain steel chape and leather covered. CONDITION: Blade is good with watered Wootz pattern visible throughout but somewhat faded at extreme tip. Pommel and hilt show some old pitting and are now gray. The Wootz pattern in the cross guard is easily visible. Scabbard mounts are good, scabbard leather possibly renewed. An attractive Persian Shamshir with defects as noted.
