This is a very high quality, attractive, and well-made powder tester, probably circa 1790-1810. It features a rounded scalloped boxlock action with integral brass pan. The left side is finely engraved with scrolls around a "STATON" banner, the other side engraved en suite and marked "LONDON". Brass triggerguard with flower engraved on bow. Features a reinforced cock, curled trigger and iron powder testing wheel, engraved on one side with Arabic numerals 1 through 12. One piece bag grip of partially figured walnut. CONDITION: Very good. Engraving is sharp and brass retains a mellow patina, triggerguard bent slightly. Grip excellent with a few scattered marks, testing wheel with grey patina and a few areas of corrosion. A very attractive and authentic eprovette.
