Offered is a desirable Remington takedown chambered for the small rifle centerfire cartridge. Features full round barrel, sporting sight, 2/3 magazine, takedown, grooved walnut forend, pistol grip walnut stock and rifle butt. Stock is stamped on the left side "WEST COOK COUNTY, ILL. BANKERS FED." This is the first company stamped guard gun that we have ever encountered in this model. The Model 25 was manufactured from 1925 to 1935, basically during the most turbulent times when Chicago was run by Al Capone and banks were constantly being robbed by the likes of John Dillinger, and Bonnie and Clyde. The West Side of Chicago was a very dangerous area at that time and these handy little rifles were lightweight, fast repeating and with multiple shots. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 90-95% original blue with razor sharp legends. Tube is basically a grey-brown patina. Frame retains approximately 95% original blue. Stocks are excellent, as is action and bore. This is a very fine, high condition Chicago bank guard gun from the height of the Prohibition Era.
