This is an early third year production. Barrel is stamped "HENRYS PATENT OCTOBER 16 1860 / KINGS PATENT MARCH 29 1866". Rifle features full octagon barrel, full magazine, German nickel knife blade front sight, single standing leaf rear sight, brass nose cap, frame and rifle butt; case colored hammer and lever, sling swivels, trapdoor with brass tipped four piece steel cleaning rod, Serial number stamped on lower left inside tang, top stock channel, lower inside bottom of buttplate. Features Henry style round buttplate screws. CONDITION: All steel is a beautiful smooth patina with age freckling and sharp legends. 70% blue on loading gate. Brass has never been touched. All three left side frame screws have a little bit of distortion. Left nose cap screw is destroyed. Hammer has period coarse checkering. Colors are gone from hammer and lever. Someone artfully put nine little stipples on top of frame. Wood is excellent, proud to metal with just minor abrasion. Fine action. Well defined bore with light residue. Nice, early 1866 rifle.
