Offered is a standard World War II Government issue United States Property .22 caliber military semi-automatic pistol. Features target adjustable rear sight, small checkered hammer sans spurs, serrated slide stop, checkered safety, checkered short hammer, serrated mainspring housing, Keyes brown composite grips. Right side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" along with partial Ordnance wheel. Right side of slide is stamped "COLT SERVICE MODEL ACE .22 LR". Left side of frame has the Government inspector stamp "JSB" John S. Begley took over as district chief on July 15th, 1945 and was authorized to stamp his initials on the weapons procured from civilian contractors within the District. He resigned on December 5th, 1945 making his inspection stamp very rare as he was only in that position for six months. CONDITION: Aside from some usual high edge wear, this pistol retains 95-97% of the original military finish with razor sharp legends. Both magazines are finished in blue with the bright blue base stamped "COLT 22 ACE LR SERVICE MODEL". Bore is mirror bright and action works correctly.
