This was one of the primary pistols used by the French Army during the Napoleonic Wars. These examples are in particularly nice condition and are profusely marked. Round, smoothbore steel barrels stamped "B / 1813" at breech with tang marked "M AN 13". Flat flintlock lockplates with rounded tail section, reinforced cocks and brass pans. Inscribed "Manuf. Imp./de St. Etienne" in center, pan and lockplates also marked with inspector stamps. Standard brass Model 1813 furniture. Every component stamped with inspector marks. Walnut half stock, stamped "P.L.D." on left sides behind sideplates. Original steel ramrods. Excellent condition, locks and barrels retain a grey patina with crisp markings. Original flintlock configuration. Stock have most of the original finish and clear markings, a few scattered light marks from use.
